Since 1790 the United States has taken a national census every ten years as mandated by the U.S. Constitution. The Census aims to count the entire population (non-citizens and citizens) of the US and the location where each person lives. The information collected by the census is confidential and determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives and how billions of dollars in federal funds are distributed to local communities.
International Neighbors will be hosting two special information sessions on the 2020 Census so that you can learn more about how important you are to the census! The League of Women Voters of Ann Arbor will do a brief presentation to help us understand the 2020 Census better and also to let us know what the actual Census questions will be. Handouts will be available in multiple languages and there will be a question and answer period after the 25 minute presentation.
Please join us for one of these informative sessions on either Friday January 31st 1-2pm or Tuesday February 25th 7-8 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2145 Independence Blvd. Ann Arbor 48104. All IN members are encouraged and welcome to come! Group leaders are especially encouraged to come and gather handouts so you can share the information with members who are unable to attend. Presentations will be similar so you only need to attend one, but you are welcome to come to both! Please RSVP here, https://forms.gle/7mQzgVvog7r4bwxV7. You can come even if you don’t RSVP, but if you rsvp, it will help us to know how many are coming! Questions? Please contact Karen T, firstname.lastname@example.org.
