Dear International Neighbors Members:

International Neighbors strongly believe in the power of bringing women together, and that experiencing our many cultures, music, food, and ideas is a vital way to strengthen our community. Right now, global concerns are increasing about the COVID-19 virus and its potential impact on everyday activities in our community, including attending our treasured monthly International Day event which we are canceling for this month.

We’d like to thank you for sticking together and staying strong during this challenging and constantly changing time, I know we will miss each other- I know I will miss seeing all your beautiful faces and talking with you. It is important that we follow the recommendations of the government so that we do not spread the virus – we must each do our part as I know you will.

And Ladies – I am asking that during this crisis – as International Neighbors – you consider reaching out to group members who don’t have cars, are elderly or have ongoing health issues to see if you can offer assistance to them.

Many IN groups will be run as scheduled, but each leader and group members will decide whether to meet or not. Each member can decide
whether to attend or not. Please make the best decision for your own health and the health of your loved ones.

We will keep you updated about April IN Day and hope we can again meet. Please take advantage of the information provided below and know that when we get together again – it will be a wonderful reunion for us all!

COVID-19 Symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus. They include Fever, Cough, Shortness of Breath.

Here are some recommendations on taking care of yourself and your family during this pandemic that was distributed by the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) 1. Learn about the signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Symptoms include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. 2. If you have respiratory symptoms, STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK. Call your health care provider’s office in advance of your visit. 3. Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, like doorknobs, keyboards, cell phones, and light switches. 4. Communicate and reinforce best practices for washing hands and covering coughs and sneezes. 5. Be prepared if there is COVID-19 in your household or disruption of daily activities in your community. For example, maintain a supply of medications, food, and other essentials in your house.
Consider alternative shopping options such as curbside pickups or online deliveries. 6. Access services as much as possible online or by phone.
