In the new International Neighbors homepage, you will find the menu tab in the upper right corner. If you haven’t registered your membership, click MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION and follow the instructions. If you are already a member of IN, click the LOGIN and sign in. It will ask for your email (the address in which you received this Newsletter) and your password. If you don’t remember your password, you can reset it right there. Once you are signed in, go back to the upper right menu tab and find the activities/groups list and choose the activity or group you are interested in. It will take you to the REQUEST TO JOIN page. You might think you are on the wrong page, but don’t despair – if you scroll down past the REQUEST TO JOIN FORM, you will see the descriptions for all the groups in that category. Read the descriptions, choose the group you would like to join, and then go back up (on the page), fill up the form and hit the button to join the group. Your request will be sent to the group leaders and they will contact you with a welcoming message and all the information you need (When is the first meeting? Where are we meeting? What are we reading?).
I like to peruse or window shop all the categories before choosing a group – that’s just my way of doing things. For example, under SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, there are a lot of different groups like hiking, cooking, singing and even Discovering the “D”- a group that travels to Detroit once a month to discover interesting sites to visit. Make sure you don’t have more than one group scheduled for the same time. You don’t really have to worry about not being able to join any group. It is true that some groups are full, but there are a lot of other ones you can get in. A good way to find out if a group is already full or if you will fit well in that group, is to come by the Open House, on September 19, and talk to one of the leaders of the group you are interested in. They will answer all of your questions so that you can make an informed decision.
Good luck and I look forward to meeting or seeing you again!
