Almost all the Discussion Groups have continued their meetings through Zoom this Summer and Fall! Some groups have even taken advantage of the nice weather to meet together in parks, while socially distancing and wearing masks. The groups meet one or twice a month, and include either casual conversation or pre-arranged topics, depending on the group. Discussion groups do require a slightly higher language ability than other groups, but welcome any women who can follow along enough to be comfortable participating!
All three topic groups will continue meeting this Fall and are welcoming new members! Two topics groups meet twice a month, on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month, one at 10 am and the other one at 1 pm. Each time, they discuss chosen topics with a wonderful group of women.
Fun & Games continues to meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm. This is a talk first, maybe play a game later kind of group. It’s probably best suited to women who want casual conversation on Zoom, with occasional attempts at online games.
The Film Groups continue to meet online as well, watching films and documentaries from all over the world. For example, twice a month, the Friday afternoon film group selects a movie that is easily available on Netflix and the following week the group members meet on Zoom to discuss it.
The German Language group, French Language group and Spanish I, will all continue to meet and welcome new members in the Fall. The German group discusses chosen topics on the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month from 1 pm to 3 pm, and welcomes both native and non-native speakers. The French Group meets from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Spanish I is comprised mostly of advanced Spanish speakers, who meet and chat casually once or twice a month on Tuesday afternoon, around 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. They’ve even been able to meet in parks multiple times, wearing masks and social distancing, while planning rain dates just in case. They’re planning on returning to Zoom once the weather gets colder again.
