I recently read the 2011 book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Japanese author Marie Kondo. In this book she suggests reviewing your possessions on a regular basis and discarding those that no longer “spark joy.” She tells the reader to thank each disposed item for its service and then say goodbye to it.

By our nature, people are accumulators. Spring cleaning is an annual rite in many cultures and, as such, is a good time to go through one’s possessions and get rid of what you no longer need.

This month, as a bonus, if you find books, toys, or small household items that you no longer need, you can bring them to the April IN Day. As they say, one person’s “trash” can become another’s “treasure”!
