The International Neighbors Tea Groups, long known for hospitality in their homes, welcomed an overflowing crowd from around the world to fifteen beautifully decorated tables at International Day. The Tea Tables with elegant tea and an abundance of delicious treats included the Asian Lunar New Year, the Philippines, Somalia, Europe, Switzerland, Iran, India, England, Georgia Peach U.S.A., and International. Historical costumes were also featured. Thank you to all who made this event such a success!

International Neighbors began in a Tea Group sixty years ago. Angell, our first Tea Group, appropriately chose “Happy Birthday” as the theme for its colorful table. With the help of the new Music Group and enthusiastic voices around the room, founding Angell Tea Group member Mary M. had a surprise 90th birthday serenade by all.

Two special Tea Tables, decorated with Ikebana flower arrangements and antique china, honored our Founding Mothers and Past Presidents as part of our 60th Anniversary year. We had a great turnout of these venerable ladies, and it was fun to see their younger faces pop up in many of the historical Tea Group photos that scrolled in the front of the room. Martha introduced and Julie presented flowers to our honored guests who have done so much for International Neighbors over the years.

It was lovely to forget the cold February weather and sit down and enjoy an elegant cup of tea and the warm friendship of old and new friends.
