Jan. 18th, 2018
Approximately 60 members gathered for the first IN Day of 2018, which also marks the 60th anniversary of International Neighbors. Martha’s lively presentation on the early years of IN kicked off the year-long celebration. Those of you who missed this informative and fun presentation can get a peek from the slides below. We are grateful for the great minds and open hearts of Esther Dunham and her friends who initiated IN 60 years ago and all the women who helped IN grow by welcoming and connecting women of all nations.
After Martha’s presentation, members were divided into 8 tables for “getting to know you” questions. The facilitators at each table asked questions such as, “how did you find IN?”, “What do you miss the most from your home country or other places that you have lived?”, “Where would you travel/visit if you could go anywhere in the world?”, and other questions which, at a lot of tables, somehow diverged into other topics such as comparing and contrasting high school systems in members’ respective home countries. Members were engaged in interesting and deep conversations when the “Let’s Make Music Group” group, successfully launched by Andra and Leeyan just a couple months ago, took the stage for their very first concert. Their choice of songs in different languages, beautiful voices and harmony were remarkable. It was a special closing and a treat for IN members in attendance.
